The Importance Of Public Relations
Very often, people confuse Advertising, Marketing and Branding with Public Relations. In fact,
they are very different professions because they attend to different goals and achieve them in
different manners; but their results depend on a good Public Relations campaign.
Public Relations is the Sledge Hammer when you want to reach a specific audience, it has an
enormous effect because generates a positive interest among the public. Public Relations is
also the best way to get free advertising. Each and every time a newspaper publishes an
article about the company this generates credibility about your brand and in most cases the
public appreciates it more in the context of a newspaper article than a thirty second spot on a
paid for television commercial. Public Relations takes longer to pick up but once you hit your
target the result are over a long term.
When you implement a good Public Relations campaign you deliver the right message to the
target audience and the audience doesn’t even realize it. Public Relations creates a positive
feeling about your company, product or service, and the audience becomes familiar with your
company or your brand without even realizing that a Public relations campaign was behind it.
It’s the term so often associate with “Buzz” now.
The message for the General Market is not the same message as the Hispanic Market, or the
African American Market because these three communities have different cultural identities
and their cultural values differ from one another. Additionally, the Hispanic community is very
diverse and even though people assume that all Hispanics are the same, they are not. For
instance, the Hispanics from California are different than the Hispanics from Florida. Why?
Because in California the majority of population is from Mexico and in Florida the majority of
population is from Cuba, Puerto Rico and other parts from Latin America and the Caribbean.
In short, their cultural identity is very diverse, and the message, as well as the manner in which
it is stated, should reflect that difference.
To generate a great PR campaign among the Hispanic Community, and create the correct
message for them, they have to understand product or service and become familiar with your
brand. These are some of the reasons your company should use Public Relations
• Increased visibility
• Position your company as the leader and authority in the Hispanic Market
• Expand awareness of the entire range of products & services which are offered
• Enhanced your company image among the Hispanic market
• Gain investors and strategic partners
• A buffer when negative news about your company occurs
• To improve sales
